Growing in Love

I wrote in a previous blog about how we should have abundant life and be in a constant process of change. But then the question is: how can we do this?

I think that the most important thing is to consistently connect back to our first love (Revelation 2:4). Think back to the first experience you had with God, when everything was fresh, and you knew who He was to you. There is a pure first love that each one of us has with the Lord. That’s step one.

Then we also must find a way of not stopping that flow of relationship between us and God. One of the best ways to do this is to give what you’ve received. As the Scripture says: “We love, because He first loved us. ” (1 John 4:19, NASB95)“ And “Freely you received, freely give. ” (Matthew 10:8, NASB95) Loving one another is a great expression of our relationship with God.

As you give out from your relationship with the Lord, something happens beyond yourself! It is a state where you are both receiving and giving at the same time. I really believe that we will walk in what the Lord is calling us to walk today, and it will be because we are going to be so in love with the Lord and with one another that His love will take care of every issue.

The Body of Christ builds itself up by this constant flow. “He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” (Ephesians 4:16, NLT)
