Learning the Language of the Spirit

Learning a second language has been a wonderful experience for me. Over the past two years I have lived in U.S., I’ve realized that it takes more than learning how to read and write in English, I have to be immersed into the language and culture. There are nuances of the language that you can only experience by really being immersed in it. Out of that immersion I have seen my fluency reach a higher proficiency level.

I think that the same principle applies in the spirit life. We have to choose to immerse ourselves into another culture, into another language: the language of the spirit. We need to want to learn each and every detail of that language, so we must surround ourselves with it. This means that we need to constantly be reading the Word of God!

I have been living in one verse from the scriptures that says that if you are in Christ you are a new creature “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NASB95)

I think that to be this new creature, I have to choose to “move” myself into this new “language and culture” to really learn how to be a new creature!

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17, NASB95)

Living in the Word is the key for us to learn this language of the spirit.
