We are approaching the time of the Feast of Tabernacles. As Christians, we do not only celebrate it in remembrance of what God did in the past, but we also anticipate the fulfillment of what God is doing during the Feast of Tabernacles today. We believe that there are truths hidden in plain sight in the Scriptures, but we also know that as we search for more revelation, the Holy Spirit opens the Scriptures to us (Amos 3:7; Proverbs 25:2).
As a church family we always look forward to the celebration of the feasts that are outlined in Leviticus 23. These feasts consist of the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah), the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), and the Feast of Tabernacles (Succoth). Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the new year; it means a new beginning for all of us.
Tabernacles is a feast of remembrance that God dwelt in the center of the camp with the Israelites during their journey through the wilderness (Leviticus 26:12). We take this time to remember and also to anticipate the fulfillment of this feast and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:14).
This Sunday at sundown we will start this period of celebration with the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) on September 13th. The Ten Days of Repentance also starts that same day and concludes with the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) on September 22nd. The Feast of Tabernacles (Succoth) starts on September 27th and ends on October 6th.
During this month of celebration we have different activities and special services planned. We try to get out of the normal routines as an expression of our anticipation for changes in our lives.
