In John 14:15-17 Jesus introduced the disciples to the Holy Spirit. He told them, “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” We believe that we have received the Holy Spirit, but it is time for us to go deeper in our relationship with him.
The Holy Spirit will teach us and guide us; he will bring to remembrance every word that we have heard. He will prepare us to receive all that the Lord has for us, all we have to do is tune in and listen. When we abide in the Holy Spirit, the door is opened for us to abide in the fullness of God. Every moment that we choose to abide in the Holy Spirit is an opportunity for us to put on the mind of Christ and be changed into his glory. When we are struggling we should pray, “Lord give me a new revelation and intimacy with the Holy Spirit.”
We cannot allow condemnation from our past to block us from moving into the new day. We must abide in the Holy Spirit and receive the love of the Father. When we come to worship, we must come in faith that the scales of our eyes will fall off and our shackles will be broken. Jesus said, “Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love” (John 15:9). We have been equipped, now it is time for us to believe and abide in God’s love.
