When we study and celebrate the Old Testament Feasts we are not looking back to something that God did in the past. We are actually looking into the future and anticipating what God promised that He would do during the time we are living now.
Leading up to the Feast of Tabernacles we observe the Feast of Trumpets from Sundown October 2nd till Sundown October 4th.
In Leviticus 23:24 Moses told the people of Israel to keep the Feast of Trumpets as a rest and reminder of the first time that they heard the sound of the Shofar (trumpet in Hebrew). When we celebrate the Feast of Trumpets we are anticipating the fulfillment of God coming and introducing Himself to the world again.
There is a sense of expectation and anticipation for the return of the Lord as the sound of the Shofar wakes up our souls from a state of dormancy. This happens right at the beginning of the 10 days of repentance, a time of careful examination of who we are and a time devoted to turning our hearts and our ways to the Father in a deeper way.
Our Feast of Trumpets gathering will be on Monday, October 3rd at 7:30pm.
