While many people attribute Jesus to the beginning of the Christian religion, He did not come to start a new religion but to open the door to a relationship with the Father. Like He said, He did not come to abolish the Torah (teaching), He came to show us how it is done. One must be able to study His life and learn that His life is not really different than ours. This is the reason that Paul refers to Him as the Firstborn of a new creation, a new lineage, a new Family.
Some people may think that their lives are hard and unjust, but when you look at the life of Jesus Christ, you can identify with His struggles. Even though He was the Son of God, He was born in a very humble place; He had to endure a lot of hardships and learn, just like we have to learn. This is why He is our example, our role model, the firstborn among many brethren. “As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world” (John 17:18).
I encourage you to study the Scriptures that will be at the bottom of this blog so that you can really grasp what I am trying to convey. Even though He is the Son of God, He came as the firstborn of many brethren, He came to introduce you to the Father, He came to tell you that His Father is your Father. “Jesus said to her, “Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God ” (John 20:17).
He had to grow and learn, just like we are here in this life to grow and learn. What is it that we are here to learn? We are here to learn that we are the sons and daughters of the Father of Jesus Christ. He is Our Father, and we can have a relationship with Him because of the example and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He came to open that door for us, a door of adoption and inclusion, not by our own merits but because of the love of the Father.
Does this make our lives easier? Not necessarily. It did not make the life of Jesus easy. But we have a joy set before us and we can spread that joy of getting into a relationship with the Father with those around us.
