The other day, my husband asked me “what makes you happy?” My first response was to think about a day on the beach with my family or a bowl of ice cream or reading a good book. I was shocked at first, to see how limited my concept of happiness was.
The truth is that what really makes me happy is a Spirit-filled life. If I am not in Christ, everything is empty in my life. Knowing my destiny and where I am in God’s plan, I am happy only if I am pursuing it.
Isn’t it amazing how happiness flows from the inside out? Even the moments you don’t consider the happiest are seen in a different light when you are surrounded by faith, love and family. My heart was truly met in realizing this. Therefore, I set my focus not on the circumstances, but fixed in God.
Here are some verses from Message Bible about this topic.
Honor his holy name with Hallelujahs, you who seek God. Live a happy life! Keep your eyes open for God, watch for His works; be alert for signs of His presence. (Psalm 105:3)
I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. (Philippians 4:12)
Love and Aloha to all!
