In our relationship with God, we can all notice how God presents constant situations in our lives where we need to take a step of trust in Him and continually give of ourselves. How do we do that and not become weary? (Galatians 6:9-10)
Here is a story to help us understand that. In Palestine there are two seas, and they both receive water from the Jordan River. The Sea of Galilee in the north is abundant in life all around it, while the Dead Sea in the south is not. The difference is that for every drop of water the Sea of Galilee receives from the Jordan River, it gives out. The contrary happens to the Dead Sea, as it retains every drop it receives and produces nothing. There is no life in it, or around it.
We must choose to be like the Sea of Galilee and allow the Jordan River to flow through us. When we are continually receiving and continually giving we will mature and shine like the sun. However, if we try to receive while refusing to give what we have, we become as uninhabitable as the Dead Sea. We can never worry about giving too much when we are connected to the source, because in our giving, God will enable us to give something beyond what we have ourselves.
