Bob Poulson – A Great Man of Faith

Our beloved Bob Poulson passed on to be with the Lord at 7:25 pm Sunday evening on September 24th, 2017.

Bob has been an associate pastor of Hale O Nā Kāula Church for many years. He was born in 1949 in Los Angeles, California. He moved to Illinois when he was 11 years old after losing both his parents. Later he returned to Los Angeles to go to college, and in 1970, while studying art Robert attended a rock concert at Hollywood Presbyterian Church where God met him and changed his life forever.

Shortly after this, Robert moved back to Illinois where he married his wife Jacki and started a family. At this time the Poulsons began to serve in different positions at various denominational churches. However, their spiritual lives were still unfulfilled in an unexplainable way, and their hunger drove them to seek a greater meeting with God.

They found what they were looking for when they began receiving a weekly Living Word publication titled This Week, which contained messages by John Robert Stevens. After learning that Stevens lived in California, the Poulsons moved back to Los Angeles to experience firsthand the ministry of this man of God. They attended a mid-week church service at Grace Chapel of South Gate where they received ministry from John Stevens. Immediately they knew they had found their spiritual family, and they began attending services at a Living Word Fellowship church in nearby Fallbrook, California. In 1979 the Lord led them to move to Hawaii. Originally living in Kona, on the island of Hawaii, they later moved to Maui where they raised their three children.

Bob is a pillar of faith and an example of love for God and for his family. Here is a quote by Saint Francis de Sales that describes him so well and that, his wife, Jacki loves “Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength.”

We are thankful for the time we shared with Bob, and also honored to call this amazing man our friend. We are heartbroken, but we find great peace and encouragement in our faith in the scriptures.

At the time of his passing, Bob was home and surrounded by his faithful and loving wife Jacki, their children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jacki Poulson, their son Elias and wife, Venesha and granddaughter, Cattleya. Daughter Nellie and husband, George and grandchildren, Isla, Charlotte and Allistair. Daughter, Esther and grandchildren, Rogue and Gabe.

Thank you for your love and prayers.

“Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the LORD”- Psalms 31:24
