When God created us He put a treasure in our hearts. 2 Corinthians 4:7 reminds us, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves.” How then can we look at ourselves with disgust or sorrow? You may think you look like a simple earthen vessel but you are carrying a very important treasure. Stop selling yourself short by forgetting the treasure within you. You need to have a meeting with your true self, the gift God has created you to be. Stop getting distracted by the vessel and stop putting down that which God has chosen to carry His treasure.
It is too easy for us to focus on the problems in our lives and the problems in the world. God sees something so special in you and, “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us” (James 4:5b). Make it personal, God’s vision for you is way bigger than your vision about yourself. He still sees you the way He saw you before the foundation of the world. God gave you a gift and if you put it down then you are grieving the Holy Spirit. You need to personally accept what God has deposited in you and be faithful to glorify God for that treasure. Refuse to bury the gifts God has given to you, walk in them! You do not have the right to mistreat the spirit He has given you. Ask the Lord to reveal your gifts as you wait on Him and learn to start thinking about yourself the way God thinks about you.
