The Feast of Passover

In the book of Exodus in the Old Testament we read the account of the first Passover when God not only delivered His people from the bondage in Egypt, but He also brought judgment to a whole system that was oppressing the people of Israel. It is important to notice that God’s motivation behind everything He did was to have a people.

I will dwell among the sons of Israel and will be their God. They shall know that I am the LORD their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt, that I might dwell among them; I am the LORD their God. (Exodus 29:45–46, NASB95)

It was the sacrifice of a lamb and the placing of its blood on the door posts of their houses that protected the people of Israel of the last plague (Exodus 12:13).

Likewise it is the blood of Christ that protects us today and opens the door for God to have a people. Just as the people of Israel had the promise of the land of Canaan, there are promises waiting for the people of God today.

Let this Passover be the beginning of a new level of inheriting the promises available for us today.

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32, NASB95)
