Life Skills Class at Hale O Nā Kāula Church

The Best Way to Cook Vegetables!

Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10am-12pm.

Part of our vision at Hale O Nā Kāula Church is to promote a healthy lifestyle for our community, and to offer a series of special classes to help people with this. We are glad to take another step in offering a cooking class that not only will promote your health, but will also help you to enjoy your healthy food.

Here is a short description of the class:

Vegetables hold an amazing array of nutrients essential for our bodies. From earthy root vegetables to delicate leafy greens, they all have their own gifts to give us. We all know we need to eat more of them for optimal health, but might be bored with the same old cooking methods or not sure how to cook an unfamiliar vegetable. Knowing the best way to prepare vegetables so that they are at their peak of nutrition, taste and texture, is a life skill everyone should have.

In this class we will explore basic vegetable preparation methods from roasting to stir-frying, to create crispy, colorful and delicious vegetable dishes. We’ll also learn how to season vegetables perfectly and bring out their amazing flavors with healthy oils, natural salts and cooking liquids. Never be bored with vegetables again!

Presented by natural foods chef Tyua Sereda and joy’s place owner, Joy White.
